So. Surprisingly nothing mentioned here as yet but what is the general feeling on what is happening? So many layers of the onion that need to be pulled off to see who ends up in the trash..
Employed in oil and gas, one has to be very happy.
Employed in flight training, one has to be worried.
Employed in tourism, one has to be worried.
Ag, what the hell are you going to spread and how are they going to load it?
Employed in mining support, price of commodities, great until they start to cut the fat from non-essentials. Hate to be in iron ore exploration or heritage once the bean counters hit the spreadsheets. I would be sending out that resume, like now.
Employed in EMS, fire support or government departments. Happy days, continue on as normal.
Private, price of gas won't affect the net worth of the boss or his habits, but I would be ordering plenty of drums of Jet.
General charter.. you work it out.
I genuinely feel sorry for a lot of the industry as it's not our fault that this happened but in the long run who will survive.

Re: Iran situation
Fuel affects everything.
Even the Oil+Gas industry needs fuel to continue, and many of the workforce are FIFO.
Trumps War is a disaster for Australia, and the world in general. So far we have just been exposed to higher prices, eventually for everything!
It could get a lot worse - with the country grinding to a halt.
Some would suggest successive governments of both parties have exposed Australia badly by running down our fuel reserves*, letting refineries shut, and selling our Oil and Gas overseas for peanuts.
*International energy Agency recommends 90 days
Japan and South Korea have over 200 days
Italy, a financial basket case has 90
Australia has about 30 - the last 5 energy ministers should be jailed.

Ok, you’ve poked the bear with this topic! Commencing rant now……..This war is just one more example which highlights the opportunities that pass Australia by because we allow ourselves to be governed by corrupt politicians who portray themselves as honest. A 3 year election cycle is like this - before the election they kiss babies, where a hi-vis vest & promise the world. Bribery. Year 1 after being elected, blame everyone else. Year 2 distract everyone with a divisive referendum. Year 3 spend a bit of money in marginal electorates. Rinse & repeat. Where is the 10, 20, 50 year capital expenditure plan for Australia?
Norway has a $2 trillion sovereign pension fund paid for by resource taxes, free health & education. Australia gives its gas away tax free so other countries can on sell it for a profit, we pay a fortune for education & health. Medicare is fine if you don’t get sick, but talk to anyone who has spent years on a waiting list & it’s not so effective.
Hard times make tough people, tough people make good times, good times make weak people. European colonisation of Australia made some tough people, but we are now a nation of suckers who are taxed into oblivion by corrupt politicians who put party donations over the good of the people. Susan Ley just got sacked, & gets a $250,000/yr pension for THE REST OF HER LIFE!! Average Australian super is $60,000 which needs last about 25 years.
I’m currently sitting in a 3rd world country where corruption is rife & obvious. The only difference to being at home in Australia is that we have a facade of integrity in politics, but scratch the surface & it smells like s#!t.
30 days fuel reserve….WTF. They’re all sitting around puffing cigars laughing at us for filling up Jerry cans at the servo.
