Howdy all,
What schools (AUS-wide) still offer SEH instrument training? I saw Kestrel still does.
TIA,
Max

Use the B206.
My understanding is there is only one B206 which is IFR certified.
(I have some cloud time in my log book flying that machine)
And maybe one B206L
Certainly a cheaper option than a twin.

Beckers used to have a fleet of IFR B206, glass screens, autopilot and all the goodies, NVG compatible too. But they have disappeared and I do not know where those aircraft went.

We’re they certified IFR?
IE Could you do an Instrument rating test in them?
Australia has very different rules than the US, for example.
Having all the instruments doesn’t mean you can legally file an IFR plan, a requirement for a IFR flight/test.

Yes about 8 were certified IFR.
They also had 3 flight simulators that were also certified by CASA for instruction of instrument flight.

Guess with the international boarders not opening any time soon there will be no need for them.

Skypig, they most certainly were certified IFR, many a flight out to Kingaroy, Gladstone, Oakey etc all done inside the white fluffy stuff. The first lot had round steam dials and a rotten autopilot, but the next fleet a few years later had glass and a better autopilot, a delight to fly.
The sims were pretty realistic too - the first generation were made by a company from Melbourne (I think) in a fibreglass shell resembling a 206, and flat screens with plastic overlays with holes cut for the instrument panel. The graphics were projected and gave about 120 degrees of vision. A good training aid for the basics of approaches, but almost impossible to hover.
The second generation was built by Yippy with help from others, used real instruments with real controls for setting qnh and other adjustments, the real glass screens and not a simulation of them, it was a huge step forward. Vision extended up and down and around for more visual stimulation. Perhaps he still makes them, or has the originals for sale? Find him on bookface and tw@tter

Helitec uses a Becker’s 206 (IFR certified)
FTA also use a Becker’s 206 (Aerotech purchased one and lease it to FTA) (also IFR certified), and as mentioned earlier, offer VET fee help and accommodation on site.
Both companies are great. You’ll be instructed by a professional team at either school and will receive high quality training.
Good luck!

Sounds like a great set up they had.
Glad a few machines sound like they are still available on the Sunny Coast.
