Melbourne Drone Screw up

Postby godfather007 » Mon Jul 17 2023, 21:13

Looks embarrassing... pop;

Lucky no one was injured or killed!

May I say,
“I will never get in a pilotless, absent of direct human intervention driven toy, driven by computers and unproven tech drone thing”.

350 out of 500 plus drones plunged to the earth or in the river in this case. That's an average of a 30% survival/success rate. :shock: 70% DOA...

Curious description indeed.

It sounds like the auto land/land immediately function activated.
Even pretty basic drones do that when the battery reaches a certain level.
Doesn’t have the completely desired effect when the drone is over water.

Let's see what the ATSB report finds:

https://www.atsb.gov.au/publications/in ... o-2023-033

They say that 440 out of the 500 drones were destroyed, a bit higher than reported in the media.

“ Yeah, let’s look into the problem…. We only lost a few”
