This is Lake Wombin in Western Province, typical of the high country lakes. Many have been stocked with Rainbow Trout for the locals sport and food.

Awesome shots Pigdog, thanks for sharing.

Do you think there could be a growth opportunity for Heli-Fly Fishing tourism in PNG in the future?

Cheers,
Breece

Tasking to Fane mission. Locals were about to go in to battle with next village, so flew 2 security guards, and 2 PNG Police Mobile Squad members there.
Soon as I landed, and the the locals saw the Mobile Sqaud exit, all the bush knives were lowered, and everyone started smiling and waving...
I came back an hour later for the pickup, everyone happy, no one hurt, and everyone got a free bag of veges...

Great Pic's BBW, keep them coming. Found a pic of the same Mil 8, shows that a cut and polish is in order.

G'day BBWantok,
Is that Fane Mission type of task a regular occurrence over there?
Is the free bag of veggies one of the best perks you've ever come across?

Thanks,
Breece

Samaritan Air operate a Cessna 206 on amphib floats and carry out humanitarian flights into the villages on the Sepik River. Operations on and off the Sepik would be fraught with all kinds of obstacles to negotiate, like logs and tree debris coming down the river not to mention canoes and the odd croc.

"free bag of veggies one of the best perks you've ever come across?"

Only perk I ever got!

Not unusual to be tasked for a Mobile Squad mission. Everyone understands "might has right" so the MS turning up tends to calm things down...
