Hello everyone,
I am getting started with my CPL theory and am looking for the AFT books. Preferably a rather recent version.
Thanks!

Hey Mate
If your looking to save a few $$ on text books, have you considered Ron Newman's On-Line theory course??

AFT are a great one-stop shop but if you’re looking to self-study here’s a few tips by subject.
Human Factors: Hasn’t changed in forever and the CPL exam is the same as the ATPL exam. Don’t bother with anything other than Bob Tait’s book.
Law: The VFRG is the best reference you’ll get as it lists where to find everything. Bob Tait’s fixed-wing law book and extract will get you 90+%. You might get three or four helo specific questions that the VFRG covers.
Meteorology. All lifted from Bob Tait’s book so don’t bother with anything else.
Aircraft General Knowledge: Here you’ll want the AFT folder but don’t think Bob Tait’s FW book is a waste of time. If you can find a cheap second hand copy, you might find half a dozen questions on turbocharged piston engines and hydraulic brakes in the helo exam (I did).
Aerodynamics: AFT. Some people recommend the Wagtendonk text but it’s unnecessary unless you’re a physics PhD and want it for the geek factor.
Nav: Bob Tait text and he does a very cool nav workbook to accompany it.
Planning/Ops: AFT.

Hey Guys,
appreciate your feedback! I checked out Bob Tait's book and they seem to be awesome, also have much better pricing. I will add his books to the plan.
Do you also have experience with Pilotpracticeexams.com?

I've used PPE for a few exams. The guy that runs it works pretty hard to keep thing up to date but I don't think he gets a whole lot of feedback on the helicopter exams. It seemed the more heli-centric the subject, the lower the quality of questions got. Great for Met, Human Fac. and Nav. For Performance, Heli Air law they were a little lack luste, Not for a lack of effort on his part I might add.

Heads-up: the guy that writes the CASA exams hates the PPE guy as he’s obviously paying people to tell him what’s on the exams. CASA is therefore now very fond of ensuring you know your sh*t by delving a little deeper than rote learning. Safest way to ensure a pass is not just to know the answer, but to be able to explain ‘why’ it’s the answer.
