Where to train Gold Coast QLD?

Postby shifty » Fri Jan 17 2025, 20:32

Hi All,

I am relocating up to live on the Gold Coast with the family. I stopped my CPL training in Covid with around 50 hours.

Looking for the best options between Gold Coast and Brisbane to continue training? I know I could have used google but if I can get some real world reviews from people who do train or hire from certain organisations.

Thanks ,

If it were my money I would go to Air T&G, not at brisbane or the goldy but fantastic place to train. My daughter will be doing her licence there.

Just my opinion, no affiliation.

You said you live on the Gold Coast. PHS are at coolangata airport. Wouldn’t think you’d want to drive an hour and a half to Ballina for a couple of circuits. Plus M1 traffic to and fro brissy. Two cents.

I know you said you're doing your CPL, but what's the plans post licence?
If it's just to fly privately, go through PHS. As mentioned above, the M1 traffic will do your head in pretty quickly...
If you want to fly scenics at the rock, PHS will preference their own students when a job comes up.
If you want to chase cows, Air T&G or Utility are much better connected in this area to assist you post licence.

Thanks all, I’ve reached out to all, it seems PHS are not open/training at the moment at GC?

Yes, learning fast about the M1 )c/

Ultimately just to fly , then see where it goes.
