Sad news.
I believe he purchased Richard Green's house/hangar in Terrey Hills following his crash a few years ago.
News reports are often wrong in early days following an incident, but I find their words eerily familiar regarding what may have occurred on the day. Landing once due to weather and then taking off again on a fatal flight.
Who knows what happened, but let's all keep it safe out there, no one has anything to prove flying in garbage weather.

Taking Off again and crashing in bad weather after successfully “out landing” is needless tragedy.
Be aware that sitting on the ground the vis often seems better than it looks at 100’ and 40kts.
My advice: If you land due weather, don’t take off again unless the weather has significantly (and noticeably) improved. (EG “I couldn’t see the top of that hill when we landed”)
Planning for this eventuality, and having on board at least water, (and a raincoat?) is a good idea.
I knew a guy who used to carry a tiny tent with this in mind. In an R22!
