looks like drones are taking over shark patrol and there will be no helicopters this year. Quite a big loss for the companies involved I would think
Helicopters no longer used for shark patrol NSW

This, like so much that we are hearing in our industry is shocking, how long till they realise it's just a stupid idea.
Range, vis and Human influence will again come back after they realise it's just not practical.

Or, maybe they’ve collected enough data over the years to have an idea of where “most” of the sharks are likely to hang out and they can patrol those hot spots with drones.
Sharks are going to kill regardless of helicopters or drum lines.
I’ve been told stories from the spotter pilots in that while warning surfers of sharks in the direct area they just continue their recreational or government funded sport and not really care. gnarly dude.

It is a shame for the companies that’s going to miss out now. Loss to companies yes, but not taxpayers. Was a big waste if money anyway. And rightly said before. The surfers don’t care.

Sadly as was the case again today at Coffs Harbour.
