Horn Island Longy In The Drink

Postby Enjoying It » Tue Jan 13 2026, 04:25

Heard on the grapevine a Longy ended up in the drink off Horn Island recently.

Can't see any updates about it on the ATSB website.

Anyone care to share what happened?

Lots of longy drivers on here I imagine would be keen to know why one fell out of the sky.

No tail number yet, but the ATSB investigation states: "During climb, the pilot observed uncommanded yaw and fluctuating torque indications. The pilot received a low rotor alert and conducted an autorotation before activating the floats and ditching the helicopter."

Will be interesting to know which bird it was and the outcome.
