RIP G Davidson
The tragic end to a great guy.
G Davidson took his own life on Thursday.
I had the privilege of flying with you mate. I'll no soon forget.
Rest in Peace.

Re: RIP G Davidson
Very sad news to start 2012 with. I flew with the man many years ago as a crewman on fires in NSW and soon found him to be an all round good guy who was helpful, knowledgeable and with a great sense of humour. He always provided encouragement, a friendly ear and was only ever too keen to share his experience and knowledge, including some helpful career advice from time to time. I thoroughly enjoyed my time working with him though slowly lost contact as years passed by as we all tend to get 'busy'. Again, terrible news and my sympathy and condolences to his family, friends and work colleagues.

Couldn't agree more with you guys, I also worked with G on many jobs in OZ and Canada, we also traveled together which proved to be interesting times!
He will be greatly missed, with his happy nature and infectious accent. Such a great bloke!
Condolences to family and friends RIP mate.

Hello Everyone,
My name is Emily Davidson and I am Graeme's daughter.
I was told about this forum for my father and I think that it is lovely that you have all written such kind words about him.
I would like to thank you all so much for your support in this tough time. It has definately been hard for us and also such a shock as we did not expect that something like this would happen.
The service for my dads farewell will be on Thursday the 12th at 11.30am. We have decided to have it in a small country town where my family is from, and this brought many happy memories to my dad flying his helicopter on my grandparents farm.
If you would like to leave some messages for him to be read out on the day if you cannot attend, please feel free to email me: emilydavidson888 AT hotmail.com.
May I also ask anyone to please pass on these details to my dads other friends incase they do not already know.
Thank you everyone for this wonderful support. You have no idea how much it means to us.

Hi Emily,
My sincere condolences to you and my thoughts are with you and your family at this obviously difficult time. Thank you for joining the forum and sharing your thoughts and feelings. I am sure many across the industry will no doubt appreciate the opportunity to pay their respects so if the service for your father is not a private one would you mind posting some details as to the location when you have a moment.
Please do not hesitate to contact those who have posted here on this thread if you feel we might be able to help in some way.

Tragic new's, I worked alongside Graeme on fire's in NSW often in the first few seasons of last decade and had some of the best work day's of my 30yrs as a R/w pilot when working with him-bloody great sense of humor and was a pleasure to work with
and that's before we start on what we often got up to when the sunset !.(Recon we seriously boosted Jame's Squire's share's in Jindabine)
His lowstress and easygoing manner matched with flying skill's made him a good bugger to be around .
I will miss our "catchup's" and will raise a glass in his memory on Thursday night.
Kind thought's Emily , U will always be his special wee girl,

I flew with Haggis in the good old Marine days, very sad news.
RIP Haggis, you'll certainly be remembered by all Ex Marine pilots.

Sad to see another one of us gone.
I've worked a couple of fires with Graham and he was always good fun and ready to laugh. Very good at what he did and he will be missed.
My thoughts are with those left behind.
RIP mate.

Very sad news indeed
Flew with Graham in opposing companys from the early ninetys to the big one 02 03 at Knancoban-Jindy and one after
Always great to to do the annual catch up with him when we met as everyone scatters to the the four winds around the world in between the australian fire seasons
His greatest saying when after being reamed out on the radio by a supposed idiscretion by another pilot or hgher authoritory was in a very Scottish Brogue "I'll take it on onboard"
A good pilot and a great guy to work with
Will miss his presence but will remember him for the good times as only us old fire pilots can from those days as we all pretty much started together
Will raise a glass on Thursday and I'm sure at the next campaign fire his name will be mentioned after hours by the oldies
To Emily and the family my deepest sympathy
RIP Graham

Hi Emily,
To you and your family sincere condolences. I too flew with your dad in the "good o'l days" at Marine Helicopters at Gladstone. He had an infections outlook on life and as many have said, could always make you laugh. The Hangar parties at Marine are still talked about today!
He did the inital flight testing on the MD520N for Australian certification (the only one with fixed floats in the world at the time) which was a testiment to his skills as an aviator.
RIP 'Haggis"
Steve.

Hi Emily,
Wow, seeing your post this morning reminded me of probably my best memory of your Dad. We worked together about 6-7 years ago over in WA. He always spoke about you and how much he missed you and counted down the days of until he was heading back home. He was a great man to work with and was well liked and respected as a pilot and a good bloke.
My thoughts, and I am sure those of others who will not be able to attend his funeral, will be with you and your family on Thursday.

I am very saddened to hear this news, I knew Graeme when he started Heliscene many years ago and we had many laughs. To Graeme's family, my condolences, RIP GD.

Hello all,
I am hoping someone on this thread could shed some light as to whether Graeme Davidson ever flew a chopper for Channel 9 news back in the 1990s? I'm researching a story and wondering if this is the same helicopter pilot.
Thank you in advance
Jess

Bob Ward at Elite Aviation Services could probably answer that question for you.
