[Thread] Pilot Pay, confirmed amounts
Off the back of the Helicopter Directory Company thread, who would be keen for Paymaster (or anybody else) to update a thread with the going rates within the industry?
The existing topic was last active over 12 years ago so is well and truly out of date. In the age of individual contracts and increased entry level salaries, I'd be interested in seeing where we all sit.

Probably down the back of the bus.
Not many people will be telling the truth in this thread.

Don't worry about the pay...worry about the next person cueing up to do it for less than you are

Sad but true. It has however always been the nature of the 'aviation industry' beast though.

Re: [Thread] Pilot Pay, confirmed amounts
All comments above are true.
However, it continually amazes me that people will spend all of their hard earned money on a helicopter licence and THEN ask what we get paid.
Now we all know I'm not the sharpest knife in the draw, BUT, I did make the effort to see what helicopter pilots were getting paid before I committed $27,000 to a licence. (and before everybody gets their lacy undies in a knot, that's what I paid 30 years ago) And I still went ahead.
Also amusing is that people get on here and ask what this or that company is paying pilots. Nobody seems to want to ask the company. I would think the they would have an idea what their going pay rate was................................

A lot of Company’s under pay, I’m sure they do it cause another pilot is already knocking on the door to take that job. What I I know now I would of never invested in a licence for a career, sure flying is great but there is a stage in life you need to be paid fairly and I’m not talking about entry level, but that’s if you can even get a job in the first place.
To answer the question entry level maybe 50k, after a bunch of years 70 to 90k then on to 100 to 130k if you manage to get that far. But if you want a secure job that pays well don’t do this...

CH, good points.
I'm sure some companies under pay as you said, but the power really is in the hands of pilots. If a company pays sucky money, don't work there. If enough blokes did this they would need to increase wages, if they didn't, they'd have no pilots.
Never happen I know but it's still fact.

Upwards of $150k for SPIFR roles and SFO's at some Offshore companies
Upwards of $180k for Offshore Capt's (conditions vary from company to company).
Good to not always look at the negative's or the entry level jobs.
When I plugged my salary into a survey recently (data from the ABS), I was in the top four percent of all salaries in the country (for any industry).
It's not all doom and gloom.

Re: [Thread] Pilot Pay, confirmed amounts
since not many people are keen to put actual rates up, here goes.
CEO/Pilot $150,000 + exp
CP $180,000 + exp
Senior Pilot $150,00 retainer plus hrly should end up well over $200k
Junior pilot $90,000 ish
Ground crew $70-85,000
yes its only NZ and you have to do Ag /Utility work, but we don't have too much trouble getting staff or keeping them. And the money is about dollar for dollar at the moment.

Wow! Things have changed since I last flew in NZ. To get those kind of numbers then you'd have to hold someone to ransom!

SuperF,
1: Where are you getting those numbers?

Quoted in AU$, but almost impossible to live* in Australia, and get a “tax free” overseas income, isn’t it?
* or even own anything in Australia.
