IBal no longer compatible with IOS
Heads up, I just tried to open Ibal after not using it for a while. Seems it is no longer compatible with IOS 11 and won’t be updated unless it is re-purchase for $28. Bit rude I thought, having already purchased it. As I understand it the original developer sold the rights to Airspayce from Carrumbine in Qld. I emailed them and they very politely told me I’m out of luck and have to re-purchase if I want to continue to use the app.
Not impressed.

Re: IBal no longer compatible with IOS
Helicopspeeder, iBal was sold and Apple refused to allow the new owner to provide updates via the old owners logon and Apple developer access process. The original iBal is therefore not being updated and Apple are slowly removing all Apps that do not run on a recent iOS. The original iBal won't work on the most recent iOS, so it has been removed and is no longer supported.
The new owners can only provide updates via their own develop access processes, so the only way to get updates is to 'their' product and you have to buy that ($28 as you stated)
I'm sure the new owners would be able to create a work around with Apple and it is easy to blame Apple, but then they wouldn't be able to recoup the cost of purchasing the product from the original developer. Business 101.
Before you delete the old App, or open it on an old device if possible, try to send yourself the data, otherwise you will have to re-enter all of the aircraft data that you have in the new version. I actually found the data entry was more annoying than the $28.

Thanks CY but I think blaming Apple for the lack of due diligence on the buyer’s part is a joke.

If you're worried about $28 for something that is actually useful...you must not have applied for an ASIC yet

That’s interesting. Apple tells me that it is no longer compatible with IOS 11 and later. Did you buy it recently?

Not worried so much about the $28 but about buying it and It then becoming suddenly obsolete, but oh you can make it work again by paying another $28.
And no, I haven’t re-applied for the ASIC, I work overseas but I get your point. I’ve had an ASIC for over 20 years and the only thing it has to get done for me is get me a discount at the duty free shop.

That’s strange. I just opened iBal on my iPad and phone and it works fine.
Brand new devices iPhone X and iPad Pro both purchased in December. Old program I have had at least a couple of years....

These changes date back to 2012.

Any one who purchased the App before then are the ones now having an issue.
