Can't compete with you Ned though here is a couple I dug up and scanned the other day.
Dropping buffel grass seed after pulling and burning heavy timbered country between Blackall and Tambo Qld. I was loader, not pilot.
Edit- Fixed my bad linkage, sorry

Comments are always welcome. I shot that in the Helmand Valley in Afghanistan. We were providing air support for the guys cutting the poppy fields. You can see their convoy on the way from the poppy fields on the road below.

"Cutting the poppy fields".......
...for legitimate medicinal purposes?
To destroy them?
To keep the heroin trade running?
Help us out here, Ned!

EH - They were cutting them down so that the poppies would die and couldnt be harvested. The poppy trade accounts for about 60% of all the heroin in Europe which is about 8000 tons out of Afghanistan each year. They were fighting a losing battle but did their best.
On the days I was there I was able to get out on the ground and shoot photos, but at the same time we had taliban taking pot shots at the cutters and also mortars being lobbed in there. Then the following day we had an RPG fired at the Huey so they do get pissed off at the cutters destroying their crops.
Here are some pics from in the fields. All the coloured flowers are poppies.

Our minders with me in the poppy fields. Was tempted to stuff bunch of the poppies in my pocket and bring them home but thought Customs might get a bit pissed

Great shots, few questions though regarding the s-70.. (blackhawk looking machine).
Why would it have the chalk markings on the tail?
And I assume those pods are aux fuel, why are they so far away from the airframe laterally? Is it to allow clearance into the machine itself?
