Gentex civilian comms recommendations

Postby Big Wave » Wed Jul 3 2013, 01:05

I've recently purchased a second hand military Gentex 56P. There seems to be a thousand communication/boom mic options online, can anyone recommend a system that will suit civilian aircraft operations? Thanks in advance. Dave

Hey mate, don't know if it will help you but I recently got a ex mil helmet and simply took the speakers and mic off an old David Clark headset and put them straight in (No need to change the wires) and it works a treat.

Bit off topic, but say when you buy an Alpha hemet etc do they come with comms fitted or is that an extra?

I have never bought or dealt with helmets as I am new to the industry and am commencing training next month.

Thanks

I have also fitted a BOSE headset to the HGU 56 and it only took me an hour and is active noise reduction. Id buy a second hand Bose and do the same. If you need help I could help out no problems.
