Sat phones

Looking at getting a sat phone and wondering what others are using and/or recommend. Use mainy in vic/nsw high country
Any advice greatly appreciated!

Motorola seem to be the most reliable handsets

Sat sleeves are the way to go. Im in FNQ and get provided with a Thuraya Sat Sleeve when required by my employer. It's easy to use and has never let any of us down. Can't comment on any other product as this is all I have used but can say if you go this way it will not disappoint.

I've not used a sat sleeve yet but I've heard good reports about them in addition to what Zac said above. They're probably replacing the dedicated sat phone handsets these days.

Look carefully at the coverage from all the phones.
If you want true global coverage the Iridium Phones are the way to go. Have used them a fair bit in out of the way places overseas. Australia only, there are quite a few options.
