Hi Slappers, I am also looking for a set of floats for an R44 Raven II, either fixed or pop out. I see this thread is over a year old, does anybody have any current leads on either???

Thanks in advance

Rodney's floats would come in handy for the Todd River races!!

Mark Reid at Reid Heliwork in Emerald had a set hanging on the wall a few years ago, might be worth a try.

A good idea needs landing gear as well as wings to get off the ground.

If you are pressing the inflate button, they are absolutely priceless!

Are you allowed to fit them (floats, fixed or Pop out) to a Raven (non Clipper)?

I seem to remember that an R22 had to be a “Mariner” at birth to be able to be certified with floats.
I.E. you could take the floats off a Mariner, but you couldn’t (legally) fit floats to a Beta.
To do with certification, including the extra horizontal stabilizer/”plane” on the bottom vertical fin.

(I’m pretty sure Marks first R44 was a clipper on skids. I sold it to him. Hence the “spare” floats)

Hey SP,

I think you are correct, however I was just trying to get a picture of what they were worth on their own, as I have seen a few clippers advertised without them? So trying to work out what the cost was to get them refitted. Would prefer a second hand set, but a price new is useful too, for comparison if nothing else.

I had mine done at Heliflite on a Raven 1. It involves a whole new skid set and as SP mentioned, the horizontal stabilizer. The total cost for supply, install and the EO was approx 40k. My machine also had factory corosion protection which basically spec'd it up to be a clipper

thanks Finny, I made some calls today and between 30 - 40 K was the price for fitting pop outs, so your on the money. And surprisingly they can be fitted to either the Raven 1 or 2, doesn't have to be a clipper, so there is a heads up for anyone thinking about it. there are so many R44's on the market right now, finding a clipper for sale with the right hours is going to be easier than fitting out a R1 or 2 in the long run I think.
