Re: A Question of Public Use
So sad on loss of life...they were obviously found guilty of knowingly changing BEW/ Power charts? Wouldn't it be on your conscience that every time the craft was tasked that you fudged performace documents. I'm only new to the industry but this is something else! The only thing I've found similar is in the fatal trap for helicopter pilots book that an operator was found guilty of re-birthing parts (in that instance it was a tail rotor that had done double life hours!) In reality, how often would this occur
Rotary as in not the Wankel engine...

Took over the maintenance of a B206B in Sydney a few years ago - did the due diligence on the components and found that the tail rotor blades were 100 hours off completing their 2nd full life!!
As it was a city based machine the blades did not look "worn". The error was in the recording of the TR Assembly and its "overhaul life" and not recording the finite life of the blades.
Reputable maintenance provider and a genuine mistake and they replaced them at their cost. Could have been hugely embarrassing and/or fatal.
