All change at CASA....
....again. Mark Skidmore resigns, let's see what the new one does. Next year of course.

Re: All change at CASA....
The fallout continues with Skidmore gone.
The move now must be to immediate introduction of the US-FAR's and removal of the junk-regs of Australia. Remember these don't work and have cost over $300m

The FAA regs are great in a lot of ways but there's some regs that will ground some operations.
Look at the 133 regs and particularly Class D loads (i.e. Hoisting). All hoist ops (other than for crew members) require genuine OEI hover capability throughout the hoist.
There's a bunch of other restrictive stuff in the FAA regs regarding 135 ops too.

I wonder if he's been gagged or if he's prepared to tell the taxpayers why he's left the post after such a short time having made not one iota of difference.

Crikey!
AAAP Sydney
Australian Aviation Safety regulation to be subcontracted to New Zealand.
After the abject failure of the Civil Aviation Safety Authority in Australia over the
last 40 years and the recent resignation of its Director, the Australian Federal Government
has decided to outsource all of CASA’s previous functions to New Zealand’s Civil Aviation Authority.
This is in keeping with the Trans Tasman agreements and current Closer Economic Relations policy.
The New Zealand Civil Aviation Authority will take over Australian aviation regulatory oversight and
the aircraft registry VH prefix will be dropped and substituted with a ZK.
This will involve less changes than trying to fix or repair the current system that no-one in
Australia seems to have been able to achieve.
Ministers have finally realised that CASA to date can best be described as an on-going joke.
The economic impact to the legal profession who have been using CASA as a cash cow is yet to be realised.
The burden of the change to Australian aircraft is expected to be minimal as each aircraft will only involve
about 4 hours of paperwork to effect the changes.
NZ Government ministers have supported the proposal whole-heartedly and likened the offer to the free lessons in
rugby that have been ongoing for the last 14 years.

Yeah but in the bright side, if the pen-pen-pen got worse, you could call for a middy......
