HIP,
I fully agree with you.
I had not met Richard, but I had spoken to him several times and he seemed like a really nice bloke. Very conservative, and very smart. He asked me to fly to his house (I know where it is) and have a chat when we were both in town. Very friendly.
I had a look at his submission to the Senate (over on prune) defending himself against government persecution. It was very well written, crystal clear, and from an outsiders viewpoint (who happens to deal with the same government department) his case was compelling.
I have hesitated writing anything about this matter, as I think the whole thing is very sad and whilst I fly through the crash area a lot, I am not in a position to speculate about the cause of the crash (unlike the ill-informed press). Let's see what the investigation produces rather than being unkind to a fellow pilot who has just passed away.

Channel 9 claimed on the news last night that they found the wreck. I didn't realise that they had a Dornier and an SD1 Squirrel.

Re: missing helicopter, northern NSW
Just out of curiosity, if Richard has been using his helicopter for the purposes of aerial filming (whether it was this particular flight or previous ones), does he have an AOC or was he operating under someone else's AOC?
This is a genuine question, as there have been quite a few accidents I've noticed in the past that could have been prevented purely by way of the flight should not have legally been able to occur in the first place. Eg CFIT at night when the pilot wasn't night current or not enough fuel to have legally carried out the flight in the first place etc.
** I didn't know Richard at all, sad to see more fatalities in this game.

Re: RIP Richard and Caroline Green and John Davis
#casa attacked the reputation of Richard Green in yesterday's Australian.
Today, former staffer Greg Vaughn has attempted to put the record straight today describing the reality of twhat went on. Shades of the John Quadrio stoy??.

I have it on good authority that channel 9 appologised personally to the pilot and crew of the SD1 that found the wreckage thismorning.

Yeah HIP and Crusty
No discredit to mates of mine who fly for the media tools.
The journalists and writers for these company's love to fictionalise the facts and leave the truth aside so they can dramatize the story to gain credit on the ladder to nowhere...
They are good for no good as far as I'm concerned.
I have corrected them a few times myself in the past regarding their aviation drahma misprints.
They apologies and act sorry in an unprofessional way then correct them self in the most minor way. No leading story stating that they fu$ked up. Always hidden between the lines to cover legal implications.
Keep the $hit work up media dick$..
Maybe the truth will work in your favor one day.???
Hopefully it's not me and my family you will discredit one day!
Rest in peace to those who have fallen before me.

Would have thought that a "public" error would need a "public" apology.
But I won't hold my breath, it's not news.........................
