Gas Turbine Engine Courses

Postby twinturbine » Thu Nov 28 2013, 02:31

Just wondering if anyone has any info on Gas Turbine Engine courses anywhere around Australia, preferably in Queensland? Doesnt have to be helicopter engine specific but would be good, either distance learning or in the classroom just to go that bit further and garner some more knowledge on the theory behind gas turbine engines and practical implementation. Really only after short courses but would be interested in degrees associated with engines. Cheers.

http://www.amazon.com/Jeppesen-Aircraft ... B003Y7NF3K

It's a thick book but compared to a degree, it's light reading. PDF versions available online.

Google rayley aviation, they are in sunny coast I think. Also standard aero are in bankstown and are the go to for a250 and rr300. Rayley do lyco and a little arial-aerial? stuff. Im about to book into standard for the feb course.

I'm hoping to do the 250 course at Standard Aero in February as well. Unfortunately they didn't run one in December this year as they didn't have the numbers. It's designed for LAME licensing though, therefore prerequisites apply. Seems to me the OP is after basic gas turbine theory, not a type course.

Ah yes well any of your aviation engineering and piloting schools will have the appropriate study material. Its all pretty basic when you get into it all.

Thanks for the replies. Not a LAME so would meet any pre requisites required as regards engineering quals, was more just look for advanced gas turbine theory i.e. a little more than the basic basic basic stuff you get put through during ATPLS. Looks like books and self study may be the way to go but ill have a look into standard and rayley. Cheers.

You could try the trade schools such as Aviation Australia, Queensland Aerospace College (both in Brisbane) or Queensland Institute of Aviation Engineering (Caloundra). They teach everything from basic apprentice level through to LAME. You may be able to sit in when they're teaching their Cert IV gas turbine units.
