AFT ATPL Books Currency

Postby av8r » Fri Apr 17 2020, 01:07

Hi there,

I have acquired some 2014 AFT books for ATPL(H) from a friend, was just wondering if the course material is still pretty similar or if some books are out of date and will need to be repurchased? I would assume subjects like Law could have some major updates while Met and Systems is probably still pretty similar?

Cheers

Just need to replace air law and human factors , with met the only changes are Graphical area forecast rather then the old area forecast and GPWT , Grid point wind and temp charts .

Planning/performance needs to be updated to the reserve fuel rules introduced in late 2018 but you can figure that out by downloading the CAAP listed under permitted materials on the CASA exam site.

No changes to human factors at CPL or ATPL level in a very long time (most of the questions are lifted straight from Bob Tait’s book).

Law hasn’t changed in any major way other than that they’re now only referring to the latest doc on duty times. There was a while there that they were using two but they always told you which one to look at. The CPL fixed and rotary-wing law exams are virtually identical with maybe 3-4 questions specific to helicopters which are the same things AFT’s material from 2014 will tell you to highlight in your AIP. Bob Tait’s law extract pdf makes life a lot easier than lugging in the full set of CARs, CAOs, and CASRs.
