UAV Controllers without VLOS by Day as a Limitation

Postby SuperSix1 » Mon Jul 20 2015, 12:05

Hi Droners,

there are a large number of you who have UAV Controller Certificates or are in the process of getting them (likely as a result of my DomiNation Tour). Some of you, having completed the IREX, will be issued a Controller Certificate that does not have the normal VLOS by Day in VMC condition/limitation.

Much work is being done on UAV operator certificates that allow for EVLOS and BVLOS operations, by Day and Night, under very limited and controlled conditions. One of those conditions is that both the Chief Controller and Controller-in-Command have certain pilot qualifications (manned aircraft night and command instrument approvals for example) and also have a UAV Controller Certificate that does not include the VLOS by Day in VMC limitation.

As this develops, certain UOC holders are going to want access to CPL/ATPL pilots who also have non-VLOS-restricted UAV Controller Certificates. If you fit the bill, and you are interested, can you email me at dc@dronecommander.com.au

For clarification, this is not a course ... it is organising appropriately qualified helicopter pilots to be involved in high-end operational drone work.
