The role
We currently have an excellent opportunity for a qualified and experienced aircrew officer to join our dedicated team. This position is based in Sydney operating from our Westmead base, conducting Rapid Response Helicopter operations.
We are seeking candidates who are willing to work on an equal time roster and be available to commence at short notice.
Key responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
• undertaking aircrew duties in accordance with CareFlight’s policy and procedures;
• ensuring secondary non-flying duties are undertaken as allocated by the RW managers;
• participating in aircrew officer training, as required / requested by RW managers; and
• acting as a media liaison, as requested, and in collaboration with CareFlight’s Public Affairs & Communications team.
About you
To be successful in the role you will have:
Essential
• A minimum 500 hours as a helicopter aircrew officer
• Previous SAR/EMS experience with a minimum of one (1) year’s full-time civil experience
• Front Left Hand ACO experience
• A sound understanding of CAOs, rules and regulations pertaining to the ACO role within a rotary wing operation
• A demonstrated understanding of CRM, risk management and safety management systems
• Sydney residency or preparedness to relocate to Sydney
Desirable
• BK117 experience
• HUET (or prepared to undergo training as required)
• NVG competency in accordance with CAO 82.6
• Winch/Rappel competency in accordance with CAO 29.11
• First Aid Certificate from a registered training organisation
• CASA Class 2 Medical
• A demonstrated experience with computing systems such as Microsoft Office, Air Maestro, electronic flight bag applications such as Oz Runways and moving map systems
• Previous exposure to medical and trauma environments
