Interesting, last time this happened they already had someone for the job but they had to advertise anyway so no chance for anyone who applied. I wonder if its the same again?

With those requirements it would have to be the same deal you'd think. Why else would you have the bar so low for a SPIFR driver? I'm guessing another low timer cop crewy is about to change seats. Happy days for him

Sick & mdav,
All ads placed into the Australian as far back as I can remember (10 years at least) has been filled by external pilots with 1500 hours plus. The low hours min is just that minimum, it is just a HR thing. Just for your info, they do not have to advertise externally.
Torquegauge,
Now Dauphines N3 & 'C' and a squirrel., soon N3's and 135.

Owap, that's good to hear. I was under the impression it was a closed shop too. It's funny how rumours are believed to be fact.
There are alot of experienced pilots out there at the moment looking for work.
So good luck to all who apply.

OWAP,
Are you sure??
I think you'll find in 2006 two pilots were put on, one experienced (ex Army) and the other a 'left seater' cop with the bare minimum!
Word on the street is there are no suitable candidates 'in uniform' this time around so an outsider it might be. Can't believe everything ya hear but. One things for sure, plenty of CV's heading to VICPOL HR with those requirements.

Sick
Sure I'm sure.
The position you are talking about was an advertised position in the Australian. After the advert was placed a second line pilot position became available. Whilst they conducted the interviews for both positions the one advertised position was filled by a former military pilot, the second position was filled by a 'low time' police pilot.
Thus all positions advertised externally have been filled externally.

This position has come up "unexpectedly" after a senior ( C& T) pilot jumped ship to CASA. It's quite genuine, but the money is a bit average for the job when compared to others of the same calibre.

Heli,
What are they offering - can you point to an EBA or anything else that lays it out ?
Cheers
Spinner.

Re: Job-Victoria Police Airwing
HIP you can have a gun.
They (we) are about to get rid of the .38 revolvers and go to 40 cal (I think it's 40 cal, there was a tender recently - lots of politics) self loading pistols. Of course the department will go with the cheapest tender...
There are pilots who used to go out 'kitted up', it's their choice.
The police crewies on the other hand have no choice and MAS staff just take the drugs... LOL.

What you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives of others.

CH, if you go to the Glock Model 22, yes it's a .40cal. Loverly piece of kit, I had one for a few years until they "bought" it back, bastards. NSW cops have the same bang stick.
Not the most accurate hand gun I have ever had, but a lot of fun. 15 rounds as fast as you could pull the trigger. And biggish lumps of lead flying around. Full loads would make a hell of a mess out of a 44 gallon drum.

Well the last job... i got a call and never even sent my details.. go figure!!.. proceeded to an interview, i did ask the question re: dollars and the last position was starting at 70k, this job seems to be exactly the same. But could be wrong.
So put your Details forth and take a stab at it. They do concider all applicants and you dont have to tick all the boxes.
