Might be a dumb question but how do you get 100hrs on fires if you can’t work on RFS jobs?

Apparently the rules these days are: to work on fires, you need to have hours working on fires. I'd previously seen it was 50 hours so I'm not sure if the 100 mentioned here is now the requirement across the board, or purely for this contract/operator. Other than working overseas on fires, the only possible way I can imagine to get hours around fires in Australia is flying the firey observer/coordinator before moving onto the buckets. Anyone know if flying the observer/coordinator can be done on the 57/18 endorsement but without the 50-100 hours?

You still need the 50 hours on fires and the aerial firefighting endorsement in order to fly airattack. How do you get 50 hours on fires if you can't fly on fires until you have 50 hours?
Go overseas, Go to the NT where these rules don't apply yet, or go overseas

Well there's more thank just NSW. Some of the other states don't have that requirement which is a way to cut your teeth.

So a low level AG pilot can be qualified for the role, because in the last highlighted sentence, it says or similiar qualifications........... That's what I'm presuming from that wording, if the chief pilot approves?

Yeah, not sure what relevance 25 hours of Ag has with flying Air Attack.....other than Low Level but there is a seperate rating for that...Go figure.

Massive thread creep on the advertised job so maybe another thread can be reopened about this broken record topic.

Why is CASA such a closed off unreachable organization? What’s their end games? Blows my mind.
