Hello? is it me you're looking for??...

Postby lowlevelhell » Thu Oct 4 2018, 04:23

Thanks to those who've given leads but unfortunately nothing eventuated, so here goes again...

Ex-ADF CH-47 Chinook engineer, Hold CASA and FAA Commercial tickets, FAA instructor rating. 2680+ hours (all r/w) R22/300CB/B47/B206B/L. 2100+hrs turbine command, 230+ hrs night, sling, low level. Class 1 med, ASIC, CRM, DG, HUET, HFR, First Aid with CPR all current and renewed earlier through the year. Also hold RePL, multi-rotor <25kg. Various OEM factory courses (Chadwick-Helmuth, Bell Helicopter Texas, etc) experience in tours/charters/ENG/Flight instruction/aerial filming-photography/ferry/maintenance test flights and aircraft servicing. Nil accident history with company references.

Awesome people skills accrued while working with internal/external stakeholders. Business development/management/project writing experience. Great on the tools and happy to turn spanners if required. Remote location experience with over 12 months spent permanently based on Christmas Island and the Torres Straight.

Ideally looking for FIFO/Touring position Australia wide or O/S, or something SE QLD based but happy to consider any potential offers.

cheers all.

Thanks Fill-Level, I've emailed resumes and spoken to all those you've listed, most never replied back, or I heard nothing from them or they claimed they have nothing available, but thanks for the heads up mate!

Holy sh!t mate! If you can’t get a job with that sort of CV the industry must be in a down turn.
Just out of interest what’s an RePL and multi rotor thingy ?

It is a bit stink the way there is no contact unless you are shortlisted. Then a mad rush to find someone .How long does it take to give a oneline email?
I am Currently in a holding pattern waiting for people to reply. It’s annoying as knowing my luck it will crop up when something else does as well .

Need to pray a bit more and hope for the best

RePL is Remote Pilot License (drone/UAV's) since UAV's are becoming the next "big thing" in aviation and increasingly manned helicopter operations are being encroached upon by UAV's, some operators are training their pilots to have those quals since they operate both.

Yes often I'm left baffled too regarding what's needed to find a decent flying job.....oh well!

I understand the vagaries of helicopter operations, been in this industry long enough, but I've always thought that even a brief one-line email stating your CV has been received (especially after it was requested) is simply polite acknowledgement, makes me wonder sometimes that if a little email is too much, then would I really matter to you as an employee?...

Yes my personal experience is that after months (or sometimes years) of hearing nothing from applications, suddenly everything comes in at once and the operator wants you there yesterday! and praying never hurts either!

Was the job advertised and you had the necessary long line skills they required?

Do you know if they are actually sponsoring an overseas pilot for a working visa due to no Australians meeting the criteria?

No the position wasn't advertised as far as I know, I just got a call out of the blue. They didn't say if they were sponsoring anyone, I was just told they couldn't find anyone locally with the "specialist skills" so they filled it with an outsider.

Did you just do an FAA instructor rating for the fun of it and leave or did you take a job from an American while you were working over there?

It's a global industry, why can't we all just get along? Pretty hard to take a guy seriously when he complains about foreigners taking a local job after doing the exact same thing. Seems a bit hypocritical.

Firstly I'm NOT complaining, let's clarify that. I'm just relaying what I was told. I understand it's a global industry with supply/demand and operators & pilots need to do what they can to fill the voids. I've worked in 3 different countries under contracts and visas so I don't believe I'm taking a job from somebody local when the position was advertised to the world.

Apply for the Skyline job.
Good gig and a great company.
Palm trees, blue skies, blue seas, great flying, parties and home wreckers are abundant.
If I only had a second life.
Good luck!

I applied for it just as their pilot left, before it was even advertised, never heard anything back... pop;
