the FAA deems "PIC" as different to CASA. You can be a rated pilot receiving instruction under a CFI yet still log PIC hours over there, which is why their hourly requirements have a larger PIC component than ours do. They don't have ICUS like we do.

Re: EMS PILOT - BABCOCK Adelaide
Its not rocket science..
These days EMS requires a certain skill set. (Primarily NVG)
Military get it early on and get very proficient at it throughout their career in the MIL..
Its often the last barrier for us Civies, and a tough one to get..we have to work hard to get that break and we only get it when you get the job..
So of course some concessions are going to be made in certain areas for both career streams...
For them its always total time. Its hard to come out of the MIL with 3000 hours.. when you might only spend 10 years with them doing 150 a year...
Mil guys could shed better light of their yearly average.. or career average if they think its relative to the thread..

11 years mil flying, 3400 hrs = 309 pa.
34 more years civil, another 11,400 hrs = 335 pa
Not much different. Some times it took 21 months to get 1000 hrs, others it took 72 months.

8 years military = 1200h (today it would be even far less I've heard)
3 1/2 years civil = 1300h
3 1/2 years civil = 1300h
