Flight Operations Manager

The Northland Emergency Services Trust (NEST) is a charitable trust established to provide a dedicated emergency rescue helicopter service for the people of Northland.

We provide people in need with an excellent and safe Air Rescue and Ambulance Service, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. By joining us you're making a big difference for the people we help, and for the Northland community.

As the Flight Operations Manager you will report to the CEO and will have the authority and line responsibility to ensure that flight operations are conducted safely and in compliance with the exposition and all other relevant requirements.

Main Responsibilities

Line flying on NEST EMS services
Managing pilots and flight operations to ensure all activities are conducted in compliance with exposition procedures and relevant safe practices
Liaison with pilots
Leading by example and promoting the Safety Management System
Ensuring all operations and flight records are compiled correctly
Documenting appropriate Flight OPS Instructions
Co-Ordinating with the Standards Pilot and Flight Examiner regarding Training & Checking
Holding regular Safety Meetings
Requiring Incident Procedures are properly carried out
Managing the roster
Other responsibilities designated in the exposition.
Required Skills

Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL), with Instrument Rating
2,000 hours flight time on the category of aircraft to be operated or, equivalent experience in air operations acceptable to the CEO
Excellent verbal and written communications and management skills with record of working well with co-workers.
Excellent computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications (Microsoft Office Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
Excellent liaison skills for coordinating company requirements with the CAA and other government agencies
Strong comprehension skills to quickly adapt and implement changes in a complex and dynamic civil aviation environment
Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task for assisting management in identifying, assessing, and implementing new flight initiatives
