Nice to see the technology is there, would love to see it in Australian airspace!

Just looks like a VTC to me.
I'm a pessimist, that way I'm either always being proven right, or pleasantly surprised.

Is that just weather data overlapped on an aviation chart?

I would have thought any decent web designer could put together something like that!

Its the complete USA in 1:500,000 (so called "sectional charts", pretty much equivalent to the Aussie VNCs) plus 1:250,000 charts for large airports.
It includes a point-and-click flight planner (right click), mouse-over weather data for all airports with METAR/TAF services, a full online airport directory with up to date fuel prices and everything, as well as all IFR enroute charts, low and high altitude.

Extremely useful, especially for longer flights.
Oh, and its free.

What are you waiting for!

Come on guys, before you bag it, how about you open the program and run it?

It is pretty clever, with more features in some respects than our own Airnav (from Sentient Aviation in Melb, an excellent program for flight planning and mapping).
I'm glad we don't have that density of controlled airspace, too hard for this old dog. Woof.

Yeah, but it takes all the fun out of commiting aviation! Busting the end off the HB pencil on the whiz wheel, rifling through 30,000 WAC charts only to discover that you haven't got the one you need,ERCS,VTC'S,ERSA,VFG :? MET????? :? :? Choking on caster oil, hun on your tail........... :D

Cool idea ... would be great as an iPad app with GPS - potentially then feeding live info on weather, radio channels, clearances, etc etc... would make for a very powerful gadget!

Prob would need a bit more than a 'good web designer'... as a software developer I know that kinda thing wouldn't be done overnight!
