Hi Guys,
This question has probably been asked a million times but nothing come up in searches.
Just picked up my R44 and want to add a GPS, a few people have suggested the Garmin 695, just wanting to know if anyone else is running the 695 in there 44 or any other suggestions anyone may have?
Cheers
Geoff.

Extremely over the top if you ask me (unless money isnt a problem)
Im sure a simple 296 would be quite sufficient
But If as stated before regarding money, fill your boots.

495 is a powerfull tool... 296 is no longer.
Mate has a 695 that stands on top of the dash nicely..
Love the big screen, if its going to be a permanent fixture, go the 695 as it has good interface capability with other systems.
May be handy later.

For everyday flying, the 495 is a great GPS. Easy to use and has all the functions you need. If you want to save some money and can get hold of a 2nd hand 296, it to is a great GPS...
Personaly I will stick to my FMS coupled to an autopilot

Best GPS for the money Garmin 695... I have been using one for the past 2 years. It is a fantastic unit at a very reasonable price. And not mention, easy to use. Another bonus is the buttons on this unit are much larger then other models, the 296 buttons can be a pain to use inflight... the 695, simply a pleasure.
My favourite, the Garmin 530/520. but in the teens of thousands to buy... (does give you the extra VHF com though).
A very common Garmin model GPS is the 430/420. It gives most of the functions of the 530/520, but with a smaller screen. Great unit! and you get the extra VHF com integrated as well.
If you only have one VHF, I would suggest the 420, so you have 2 x VHF coms on board. The 430 and 530 models also have the VOR radio integrated, and it does bring up the price, so unless you are going to use the VOR (generally used for night flying, not a requirement for day VFR) go for the 420.
