Hi Guys,
Currently in Waikiki for 7 days, I see there is quite a few operators around here can anyone suggest a good company to take the family for some sightseeing from the air?
Cheers
Geoff.

Or if you have a rental go for cruise up to the North Shore and then go for flight with Josh in the Magnum P.I. 500D that was at Heli Expo last year. Let me know if you do and will give you his contacts.

Forget the 500, piss poor aircraft for scenic flights. Blue Hawaiian Helicopters and the 130 is the go!

What's the view like from the middle seats though? Still got to peer over someone else?

Re: Hawaii
Colby you ever flown with Paradise and their 500 at North Shore, prob not. They have the option to fly doors on or off and have a great tour.
EC130 is fine with Blue but if you get stuck in the middle two seats in the back then good luck. Blue's is a canned trip with automated commentary. Paradise is back and forth with Josh the pilot.
If you want the same tour as all the Japanese visitors then do the Blue trip, if you want something different then try Paradise 500 trip. There is also Makani Kai at the airport as well. Think they are running couple of AS350B2s.

Heli-ops
Ive been on both.......
The Ec130 is a fine machine even when sitting in the back, quiet and comfortable and the commentary was very informative -
The 500 with the doors off, the only seat you really want is the front, sitting in the back noisy drive train and cramp if your taller than 4 foot forget it.

Re: Hawaii
OEI - Not saying one is better than the other, saying both offer different things and each has its disadvantages. If you want the wind in your hair type of experience then go for the 500, if you want the air conditioned limo experience then go for the EC130 and if you want something in between go and see Richard at Makani Kai. I know owners of all three operators there and would say they all have good products, just depends what the customer wants to do

500's have doors?? . . . . ah yes, their the things you put on over night to keep the rain out. Many hours in 500's, great work horse in days gone by but still no good for scenics. As OEI said, the only seat you want to be in is in the front. Like the Morris Minor, the days of the 500 are over.
