New Order?
I'm thinking of changing the order of posts to descending so that the most recent appear at the top of the page. Another option would be to link to the last post made from the "Last Active Topics" list (instead of linking to the top of the page). I'd like to know what you think about the idea before I make the change. What say you?

Re: New Order?
It's better chronologically so that you can read the thread in order as it was written.
Otherwise it's too easy to take things out of context, (not that it ever happens... )

What you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives of others.

The current order of posts makes 'natural' sense. It's how we read and write etc. I like it how it is.

leave it as is unless we can change it so if someone starts using an old thread we dont have to read stuff from a year ago

Sorry I’m here by mistake – I was looking for a recipe for pizza dough, and some classy naughty, i.e. no transvestites.
PS
Keep it the same, I slow learn.

Be nice to have a button to push to see everything added since my last visit.
....or is there already one of those? I must ask a 10-year-old kid to find it for me. Old dog, new tricks...

Yes Eric, that's already in place. The icons in the latest thread box will be green (and cunningly, say 'NEW') if they are new since your last visit. You can also click "New Posts" and "Active Topics" at the top right (after loging in) for a list of all the active stuff.
Back to the topic, I'm getting mixed messages here. The poll says change it, the replys say keep it the same.

You sound like a politician or a political reporter,
"The polls are telling us one thing, but the man on the street says..."
Sorry thread creep. You know how some react to polls, especially when you are sitting down to eat and the phone rings.

Re: New Order?
Keep it the same mate. I can't think of any forums, and I read quite a few, that list the most recent post first. As CYHeli said it makes sense to have the thread in chronological order. It's a handy idea to have a link to the latest post but are we really that lazy we can't scroll down to the bottom of the page!

Keep it the same: please
Can't believe that all the posts are for keeping it, yet someone's fudged the poll

Re: New Order?
Are we getting confused? Is the intent to ensure that the last posted thread is at the top , or, the last posted reply in any particular thread to be at the top of the thread? For my two bob's worth, if the intent is the latter, then of course it should remain as it presently is! Most of us don't start reading a book backwards do we? Why then would you scroll down to the end of the thread to start reading it in the first place - unless you are a tragic who has nothing better to do than to remain tuned in to BS all day every day maybe...

Didn't know you had changed it, or haven't you???
Or will you change it back again if I vote??
Or will you leave it the same as it is/was if I don't vote??
Now I'm just confused................

Re: New Order?
Ok,
I voted to have whatever it was we were voting on changed... but if I voted on haveing it changed and then have to read backwards, upsidedown or sideways then no, i want to take back my vote... I think I was trying to vote on what order individual threads were posted on the forarm. anyway. I think i made a booboo.

I was expecting a thread about Hookie, Sumner and the other one...
...was never the same once Ian Curtis checked out.
ANyhooo, if it's not broken....
