Keep it profesional

Postby phugoyd » Wed Apr 23 2008, 12:02

Due to the anonymity of this forum, some people have chosen to abuse others, i have removed some post's and edited others to keep the thread flowing.

Lets use this as a way to get a fair deal for all so we can all get back to other things.

Thanks

As stated above it is the right of the individuals to work or not work casual days or the 16 th day for the money on offer. The only problem with that is the people who want more money for their casual days are having that right taken away by a company and by the people who will work them for the money on offer .So can those willing to work the days give us a solution so that they can continue to work for the money on offer and we can get what we believe is right for the rest of us.

Lets get a few things straight.

We currently work to the existing EBA, including the FLC entitlements.

There should be no abuse thrown at anyone for doing FLC in its current form as they are lining their pockets as best they can with whats on offer.

We have asked for a solution to this in the next EBA which at the moment falls short of our expectations, therefore i believe the EBA will be voted down so that we can then renegotiate a better outcome.

The problem for the company come the 2nd of May is that due to being short sighted in their offer they will now have to deal quickly with action by the pilot group in the form of a ban on FLC days as they stand, no changes to rosters within 14 days etc.

From this point on if someone does FLC days then they will be letting the pilot group down and really short changing themselves for the future.

As has been stated by others though being part of the union as were 90% of the Bristows guys gave them the unity to get a fair deal.

If the management have been blind to the pilot shortage then they will have to face their own management when they have a wage related blow out in their future balance sheet. Being the head of a multi national company comes with the responsibility to plan for the future and not just get rewarded for past performance. The AFAP have published this shortage for many years, i even heard it touted years ago by flying schools that there would be a shortage and the time was right to get a license, they were right.

Its not a lot thats being asked for, even if FO wages were $100000 it would be what the general public expects us to be paid as professionals. Be proud for what you have scrimped and saved for your whole life and studied and worked hard for for many years. There has to be a pay back time in this industry and its here and now, boom times reward those that have worked to achieve a level off professionalism that we have.

Remember, you can replace someone in head office within weeks but a pilot takes months if not years to train and replace.

Stick together and lets start putting down some ideas about what we will accept come May 2nd.

CPI

Postby eba » Thu Apr 24 2008, 06:26

The reason why 5% without CPI just isn't enough!!!

--Above are the percentage changes in the quarter for key categories of goods and services. The number you see is a weighted average for Australia's eight capital cities. Other figures that jumped out at us from yesterday's release...electricity prices are up 10% over the last year. Food is up 5.7% with milk up the most of any food group at 11.6%. Bread is up 9%. Automotive fuel is up 18.9%.

Can we get some direction from the Pilot rep's as to what the planned course of action will be come 2nd May assuming the proposal has been voted down?

The direction to proceed if the proposal is voted down is quiet clear. A request will be made to the pilot group for further input on the new EBA but it is fairly clear what the major and some other issues are. ie Salary increase across the board to all and Truscott.

If a NO vote was made by the majority of pilots it would be an indication that those pilots want an improvement on the current proposal and ARE PREPARED TO TAKE ACTION to support a better out come for all.

Fair statement?

I note that one of the posts that the moderator removed was one that went against the general consensus and dared suggest that we should vote yes. Surely this is supposed to be an objective thread. Wasn't that person entitled to their opinion?

You can vote whichever way you wish without any intervention from myself, just keep it constructive and don't attack an individual who probably doesn't look at this forum. The person in question can feel free to post "vote YES" if they so wish.

Yes, and the people wanting a 70% pay rise are having that right taken away by the people who will work with just a 30% pay rise. The market works both ways - don't begrudge a person with debts to pay working IAW the current EBA

Have not heard the 70% claim as yet, bring it on!. I do not disagree with your comments the only thing I see is some getting the same money for say a day of up to 12 hrs where others are req to spend 24 hrs at work for the same money and the company saying while there are people to do the days, tough for the others.

And add to the above figures DTA

FO is $98 ($16464 per annum based on 12 tours)
SFO/Capt $120 ($20160 per annum based on 12 tours)
(The difference between FO and SFO/Capt DTA rates is due to the ATO salary scales covering allowances.)

The recent Bristow EBA was achieved by having a strong and communicative Pilot Committee, which in turn led to a determined and united Pilot Body.

Its an old saying, but "divided, you will fall........"

I suggest you all take a closer look at conditions rather than salary, because if you are not careful no amount of money will make up for the conditions and quality of life you bargin away

Wouldn't have thought that this was a game, after all I'm here to get a quality of life that I have worked for, trained for and devoted a majority of my life towards. I just want the s#!t to stop by just paying what’s required, providing us with what is needed and I'll do the work that they need done to make their world go round too. Why do we need the games!

Interesting, if you dont think this is a game( all be it a serious one) you are kidding yourself both sides plan play strategies out and wait for the other side to respond. As unfortunate as it may be you will be asked to participate soon. If you really do want the correct pay and conditions for all that effort you have done I guess you too will have to play the game or the stale mate will continue.
