Spectacular to say the least! All survived thankfully.

That is unreal, seem to lift off OK, wondering when he had the wire strike, unless it was a strike on the tail rotor.. either way, it was either very good luck or great management getting it on the ground upright..

From Aviation Safety Network, if you havnt seen this site go to the home page for a look.

A Bergamo-based helicopter ambulance crashed just after 18:00 hours in Morbegno, outside Sondrio. The helicopter crashed in forest in the Orobie Alps with passengers and pilots safely escaping. The helicopter had just rescued a motorcyclist who had fallen into a ravine, when its rotor blades struck a high voltage cable and was forced to perform a crash landing from a moderate height. Six persons are reported to have survived the accident: a pilot, and engineer, a doctor, a nurse, an alpine rescue specialist and the motorcyclist. All were hospitalised for further medical tests.
My edit is due to new information from another site that there was only 2 crew on board.

Turn the sound up when you're watching it, you can hear it hit the wires around 6-7seconds.

How anyone survived that is a miracle. It's a bit sickening to see the video and know that some poor soul is behind the controls with no control.

Echo your comments FF.
Looking at the picture of the wires, you'd think that would almost be the hardest phase to hit! Especially with the TR presumably...
Lucky (or unlucky?) buggers.

Looking at both towers, im presuming hes hit both lower conductors on each tower as you can see the insulators hanging down. not trying to be an armchair expert but just making an observation here if hes gone through both sets its truly amazing

Good work by the pilot to keep it sunny side up. Hard to be a crewman or engineer in that instance.
Pilot bold faced actions: 1) Reduce torque to reduce tail rotor load;
2) Collective to maintain RRPM;
3) Cyclic for attitude; etc etc,
Crewman/Engineer bold faced actions: 1) Grip seat pan with arse cheeks;
2) Think of loved ones.
Amazing they all walked away. Good work. Would have been a scary ride down.

Re: EC 145 accident in Italy
Maybe he hit the wires with his main rotor and the shock sheared the T/R drive shaft? Having seen those clips of the two Super Pumas clipping main rotors and the US Blackhawks that did the same, the entire tails of those aircraft sheared off as soon as the rotors clipped.

Stinky Dingo, if I was unfortunate enough to be the pilot of this helicopter they would have needed a crow bar to pry the seat out of my bum..................
Hand in Pants, I'm thinking, my god, that IS huge!!!!!!!!
