Does your employer pay for your Medical?

Postby Guy Incognito » Mon Sep 1 2014, 22:23

Easy enough question, does your employer pay for your Medical?
Do they pay for your ASIC?

Do you think they should/shouldn't?

Your medical and ASIC are both work related expenses, I'd be surprised if anyone isn't claiming it.

Always claimed medical costs, ecg, ophthalmologist, all those specialist dudes who you need to see as you get older.

Plus the ASIC, airside driver licence, maps/charts, AirNav VFR updates, new aviator sunnies, a bigger watch each year, more bars on the shoulder, wear and tear on the shirt from carrying the bars, blah blah

I don't see that the employer is liable for any of these. If you want a licence, you need these things.

My employer pays for half of our medical insurance, which is optional. Being in Botswana its pretty much needed so you can be evac'd to a decent hospital, I think its a pretty fair deal!

While these things are conditional to holding your licence, it is nice when your employer offers to pay for these things. Same goes for endorsements and further training. In my mind these "little" things make you feel like you are valued by the employer.
