Hi all,
Anyone know what kind of minimums the Queensland police would be looking for? Also do they advertise or is it word of mouth?
Cheers

Ex military most likely, just like they do mostly in vic, that way there already getting pre institutionalised pilots. You can guarantee when they advertise hours will be 500 total , 500 multi, winch, NVIS, MEIR Etc.

Re: Queensland Police
I know there are some pilots flying there that are not ex military.
I believe some of them Might have got their first ME job there, potentially on the Surf Rescue BO105s. Which, as I understand is part of the same operation.
I have little knowledge of the operation. Just know a few guys that have worked there.

Different set-up to QLD GovAir that run Rescue 500, 510 etc and the prison transport Cessna 208s.
The police helos are flown by pilots that also fly the Westpac helos out of Carrara on the Gold Coast. Only the observer is a sworn officer.
Different hiring routine to GovAir that have to advertise every position. From memory they look for 2,500+ hours, instrument, and NVIS as they often run blacked out over events etc.

Re: Queensland Police
If I were interested, and local, I’d drop in to one of the Surf Rescue bases. Carrara or Caloundra. See who’s willing to have a chat.

And by "do mostly in Victoria", you mean three of fourteen pilots???
You don't get 'pre-insitutionaised' (whatever that even means) from offshore which is where most VICPOL guys come from.
I wish I had a catchy saying like everyone else...
