Hey mate,
There are a couple of guys at your current contract who have picked up work with Babcock on 139 and S92, worth a call?

Re: 2800hr Pilot looking for work
How do you log IFR?
(How do other people log IFR?)
500hrs IF seems like quite a lot for a 2800hr pilot (18% off all your flying has been in cloud (by my definition))
Or are you recording hours flown on IFR flight plans?
I'm not singling you out, I'm just curious; as it has been my experience that there seems to be numerous forms of logging "IF" in Australia.
1) Time flying a helicopter on an IFR flight plan
2) Time spent flying with 'no discernible horizon' (This may be a CASA definition or something similar)
3) Time spent in cloud
I'm not trying to "Troll" and maybe this requires to be started in another thread. But an interesting discussion regardless....

Hi Yakking
Easy answer, yes that is planned IFR. Total time IIMC is about 80 odd hrs. I make a note in a spreadsheet of the IFR flights I do however, the IMC element goes in the logbook. I have edited my original post to reflect this.
Hope that nswers your question.
Cheers

There's the NZ EMS job listed just below, your quals are almost there, they may be interested?
I have some mates in Nepal who say there also might be still an opening or two on their squirrels, PM for contact info if wanted.
There's a Chinese EMS outfit requiring 6 x 130 drivers, they want an FAA certificate but might be happy with an ICAO license? http://helicopterjobs.justhelicopters.c ... 9r1YWN_wdc While the ad may seem to be dodgy I do have it on good authority that it's legit.
Good luck.

Hey Team
Still looking for something concrete. Have done some contract work but nothing full time yet. I've followed up all of the leads provided so far (cheers all). Also available for any contract work that may be available. Can do flight reviews etc.
Cheers ET

Re: 2800hr Pilot looking for work
Hey ET,
Just thinking outside the box a little, are you interested in the airlines at all? Here in the US they're hiring like crazy, and if you meet the experience requirements for an FAA fixed wing ATP (you only need 250 Fixed wing and the rest can be topped up with you helicopter hours) you'll get a gig no problems flying an Embraer 145/175 or CRJ. You'd only need to spend 3 years here and then you'd meet all the requirements for the likes of Etihad or Emirates etc.
Being an Aussie you can get an E3 visa, and there's already a few Aussies here on E3 visas flying both helicopters and fixed wing.
Send me a PM if you're interested and I can get you in touch with the recruiters. Just some food for thought.

Re: 2800hr Pilot looking for work
I'm in the USA at present doing some training (not for a transition to fixed-wing) and our trainer pretty much said airlines are starting to park-up aircraft and cancel flights due to crew shortages.
As a side note, Qantas mainline recently advertised too, which is something not done in quite some time. Moving to fixed-wing overseas might not be an option for many however there might be a few willing and able to jump and this could be a good opportunity to fly on the other side of the fence.
Chin up ET...after every slump is a recovery. Fingers crossed you get something soon mate.

Re: 2800hr Pilot looking for work
Thanks chaps. A fixed wing conversion has been considered in the long term however, I really want to stay in rotary. Equally with little fixed wing time in my logbook the conversion would be financially out of the question at this point in time.
Many thanks
