Allison C18 cutaway video's added
Here are some pics (video to come soon) of a sectioned C18 gas turbine engine I have just completed and handed over to a very happy customer on the Sunshine Coast Qld Australia.
The model was a genuine complete engine when I received it from the customer almost 2 years ago.
Over 1500 hours of labour were put into it, the results proving what an invaluable tool for showing student pilots and maybe a few engineers how a turbine engine works.
What the control box is for will be answered once I post the video.

What he has not told you is that you can run through a start, sounds, noise, bits spin round and you get to see everything. best damn training aid we have!

When I saw this thing "unveiled" I didn't comprehend what it was about to do.... It sure looks nice, the cut aways answer all those embarrassing questions you were afraid to ask....
But then when the lights where turned down low and the Starter engaged..... OMG Un Believable!! someone will post a video soon I'm sure, but it is dead set amazing when its running...
Fantastic training tool for student, instructor and even engineer education..
Great job.

That's an introduction hard to beat. Welcome FREAK. Just the work involved in sectioning the casing, reassembling and highlighting components would be painstakingly precise. Amazing work.

That is fantastic! Great job, and patience!
What rpm do you actually spin it up to?

Jabberwocky.
I haven't actually measured it, I calculated and installed the 2 electric motor/planetary units with a reduction ratio to drive through the accessory gearbox gear trains with enough torque to spin the N1 and N2 shafts at a speed that looks convincing, without needing lubrication.

Firstly may I say thanks for all the positive comments I have received regarding the workmanship and overall appreciation of this training aid.
As for running courses, unfortunately not, however, for those who have commented on wishing for one of their own I would be very interested in discussing the opportunity to make another turbine, or any teaching/training aid that someone is willing to buy.
As for costs, it comes down to exactly what is required and the hours of labour to achieve it.
I will add some photos of other helicopter parts I've sectioned over the years.
Regards
FREAK
