Santa's Pre-Christmas Flight Check
Santa Claus, like all pilots, gets regular visits from the CASA Flight Operations Inspectors, and the CASA FOI arrived last week for the pre-Christmas flight check.
In preparation, Santa had the elves wash the sled and bathe all the reindeer. Santa got his logbook out and made sure all his paperwork was in order. He knew they would examine all his equipment and truly put Santa's flying skills to the test...
The examiner walked slowly around the sled. He checked the reindeer harnesses, the landing gear, and Rudolf's nose. He painstakingly reviewed Santa's weight and balance calculations for the sled's enormous payload.
Finally, they were ready for the check ride. Santa got in and fastened his seatbelt and shoulder harness and checked the compass. Then the examiner hopped in carrying, to Santa's surprise, a shotgun.
"What's that for?!?" asked Santa incredulously.
The examiner winked and said, "I'm not supposed to tell you this ahead of time," as he leaned over to whisper in Santa's ear, "but you're gonna lose an engine on takeoff."

LMFAO
A good idea needs landing gear as well as wings to get off the ground.

The old "one reindeer inoperative" trick. I hate it when they pull that one.
I'm a pessimist, that way I'm either always being proven right, or pleasantly surprised.

Really, though, how tough could it be to lose on reindeer on a machine with 9 units? C'mon...thats hardly a challenge!
To fly is human, to hover...divine!

How would you feather an inoperative reindeer? I thought they had fur? the notams a good idea though not only is the aircraft experimental, but the pilot has got a major problem with currency. I wonder who does his check rides?

On North Pole REG, I’m pretty sure he, Santa, can do his own check rides under a “grandfather” clause, licence number 1 etc...
(Also, it’s not difficult to “feather an inoperative reindeer” however, traditionally tar is involved.)

Re: Santa and Casa Ramp Checks
I have just heard CASA is implementing their new random drug and alcohol checks over the break commencing Thursday evening after sunset and I just know the Jolly Old Round One is going to get done for sure?
I also am lead to believe there might be a few outstanding AD's on both the reindeers and the sleigh and some serious concerns with weight and balance issues!
Hey, if he doesn't make it to your place; you can always blame it on CASA - now there's a new idea!!!

I see, well that's cleared that up then, thanks Sky Pig you are a font of knowlege! "Adult World's" got plenty of feathers and the reindeer would look good in white too! Just need to get the blood stains out of them!

That would be true, except I still haven't figured out how to autorotate a reindeer yet.

Re: Santa and Casa Ramp Checks
mention of audlt world cast me back to recent bridstrike thread..
...would now be a good time to raise the issue of helmets?
(better getting hit by a goose the a friggin' reindeer )
apparently they are the No1 killer in sweden:
they don't put that in the back of the ERSA ....

apparently they are the No1 killer in sweden:
- car hits reindeer
takes legs out from under reindeer & puts it through the windscreen
reindeer gets pissed & begins to kick the semi concious driver to death
reindeer limps away
they don't put that in the back of the ERSA ....
