Another R44 bites the dust.
No one hurt... no idea what happened.
Thankfully the hangar doors adjacent were closed and stopped one of the flying rotors from entering, very lucky.

Ouch... accoring to the register it is registered to THG.

Anyone have any idea what happened? Hard landing and bounced on the floats maybe???

Blackers.

Bouncing on the floats is not an issue as the floats attach to the top of the skid. They are actually bolted on using metal strips and then secured to the struts via rope tie ons. The landing is always conducted on the metal skids to prevent the very issue you suggested. Some fixed float designs still have that very issue. Not sure if its been fixed through the years. I think B206 fixed floats land on the float themselves but I could be wrong. All my time was 44 fixed float.

Looks like alot of fire retardant foam n so forth sprayed around, i wonder if it had the bladder tanks & how quick they leaked still.

another R44 bites the dust, but at least nobody injured, doesn't even look hard dynamic rollover be my guess
