Hi all,
Heading to Hawaii in a few weeks, looking to private hire. Has anyone had any experience or know any contacts?
Thanks in advance

Thanks Ned.
Have spoken with Mauna Loa, they were very helpful regarding license conversion information, but they don't allow for private hire. Going to be staying in Honolulu and on the North Shore. Have plenty of hours in R22, R44 and B206.
Cheers

Bladepitch,
If he goes up to the North Shore while he is there he can do just that, although Cal has a 500E there and its not in the Magnum paint scheme

So aviation really does take you places!
Enjoy the trip.

http://magnum-mania.com/Articles/The_Chopper.html for those interested. Lots of other Magnum fan info too.
"nerd alert".... I visited the pier that TC operated from, and swam in the tidal pool at Robyn's Estate last time I was in Hawaii.
Heli-Ops, how do I get in touch with Cal?

Its a great drive from Honolulu up to the North Shore. Go up the H1 through the middle past Wheeler Army Airfield and you can look across and see the pass that the Japanese planes came through to attack Pearl Harbour. Then after you turn right at the shoreline its another nice drive to the hotel complex where Cal has his machine based. Josh flies it and is a great guy.
After you do your flight continue around the coast from there and come back down past Kaneohe Bay which is where there are lots of USMC helos. Then back thru the Pali Pass and you are back in Honolulu

James,
Get a licence validation from the FAA , then get one of Mauna Loa safety pilots to go with you and rent there R44........
Failing that you have a choice of heli operators doing the tours of the islands.....I used Blue Hawaiian helicopters they will do a private tour for you in there EC130 or you can go magnum pi style with Paradise helicopters at the golf resort which is about 1 and bit hours drive from honolulu, but book in advance for this...they get booked up pretty much 5 days in advance in the holiday season (yanks Holiday season) there bookings come from the resort.
There is a B206 news chopper which does tours as well....and a AS350 which is based next door to blue hawaiian helicopters.........
