You planning on hopping back into a real helicopter Ferrari.
No “mamby pamby” helicopters that far out to sea.

Depends on what your definition of 'mamby pamby' is...
The new ride is however quite nice.
Ignore Twisty. He's had a small taste of operating beyond 50nm from the coast for the first time in his life and he thinks he's now Charles Lindbergh pushing new boundaries in aviation. Actually, I think Twisty's 'new' ride has the same cruising speed of the Spirit of Saint Louis come to think of it.

Oh that’s a bit harsh FF, I did go out to 100nm a few times delivering spare parts for ice cream machines
Aside from jovial sideswipes from colleagues this is a great step forward and the Bight has been more controversial than most permits in recent years given the publicity. It’s nice to see Canavan acknowledge publicly that we here in Australia have had a successful history for over 50 years in offshore. Hopefully it will get some traction for the industry.

We covered some of that area for Phillips back in 1981 (?), with two S61Ns operating from Eucla. We doubled the population, phone number (manual exchange) was Eucla 12
No positive results from the exploration, but times and techniques change.

G’day Heli - By Phillips do you mean ConocoPhillips?
Anecdotally, previous seismic results are promising and deep water drilling techniques have advanced quite substantially.

If i remember correctly. BP were all set up to do this werent they? They had bristow signed up, training rescue crews ect.
Didnt that all fall over 18 months ago? Whats changed now?
Would be good if it did, don't think it will tho.

Koala,
The two permits that BP had have been re issued to Statoil or Equinor as they are now known. Watch this space.

No, ConocoPhillips didn't start until 1989: we worked for Phillips in the early 1980s.

OIl is up and when that happens all the old projects that were shelved when it was at 40 are all of a sudden back on the radar.
The Saudi Arimco IPO (worlds largets IPO) is coming up and it is far easier to sell an Oil IPO when oil is at its highest in 3 1/2 years, and strangely the oil price spikes just as the US is trying to pull out of the iran deal.
So can they get offshore rigs up and running before it starts sliding again?
Regards,

It's good to see US hiring In the GOM has increased with oil being over $70 a barrel now. Let's hope it works that way in our sector too.

Once the IPO is over the bottom will fall out of the market. Simple process and that is always how it works, get the suckers in and then nothing but downside.
When they annonced back in mid 2017 oil was at 45, after like 60 yrs they finally allowed a actual audit of their reserves and of course if showed they had more than they said they did for the last 60 yrs. Of course they could never say they had less??????
Smoke and mirrors, caveat emptor.
