whats the difference between class A & B aircraft?

Hey slappers

Little help needed.... In regards to pilot approved maintenance, I know there is a list of approved items that can be done to a class B aircraft (CAR sched eight) which falls under REG 42ZC(4), my question is, what defines a class A aircraft and what defines a class B?
is it defined by MTOW? operation type? RPT or CHTR etc
The air law index i have says to look in CAR 2, but no luck so far in finding my answer there... :roll:

Class A ACFT refers to:
Transport Category and RPT/Charter aircraft.

Class B ACFT refers to:
Everything that's not Class A

I'm studying Air Law at the moment and don't know exactly where in the Regs I saw the definition but from memory that's the best that I understand the Classes of ACFT.,

CAR, Volume 1, Part 1, Regulation 2, Page 16.... Also reference CAR, Volume 3, Part 13, Regulation 206 (1) (c)...

It will be a wonderful day when CASA re-writes the entire CAR/CAO/AIP/ERSA... Surely they can't screw that up any more than it is.
