Worlds Fastest Helicopter - Eurocopter X3 255 Knots

Postby QMB » Mon Jul 8 2013, 02:20

After being informed by a highly reliable source (zoo magazine) that the Eurocopter X3 holds the new speed record which I believe was previously held by a Lynx.

The X3 looks part twin prop fixed wing and half helicopter. Is this fair game? Does anyone know wether it has bladders in the tanks?

Thanks

Snot a helicopter, it's a compound.

The Lynx still holds the helicopter world speed record.

Is indeed a compound, and I'm willing to put a dollar on it being the way forward.
Not a bad effort on Eurocopter's part given the amount of time the 609 is taking.

That's a Dam good point. We had all of this hype with Bells (whoever it is now) 609 and Sikorskys X2 then Eurocopter comes along with this Dauphine then modified on the weekend (it seems) and blows them out of the water in relatively quick time, go figure.
