And if Ferrari mentions RM's 5 more times he actually gets a free set and an Akubra to suit!:).

5.11 6" tac boots..
http://www.511tacticalaustralia.com.au/ ... /12018.htm
or, for the fully water proof version...

I've been using them for a couple years now, very comfortable and appear to be wearing quite well...
PS. I still have my RMs, 5 or 6 years old, still going strong - worn when operationally acceptable...

I will only mention that you should think not only about being inside the helicopter, but what is outside ..will it be raining (waterproof or at least resistant will make a big difference), do you need some grip, do you need aeration (is it hot?) or not (cold?).
I have a pair of waterproof hiking shoes with good breathability, perfect for where I am as there are extremes of hot and cold, and it rains quite a bit.
Flying with soggy socks is not fun.

Those look good actually, might have a look at my local RM Outlet on the GC as well and get myself some fancy new shoes.

doesnt matter where you are - Ariat ropers are available - check put Shelplers.com - good price and reliable service world wide. I love my RM's but are too expensive - Ariat are comfortable, affordable and easy to buy...
RM's in excess of $250
Arait (from Sheplers) less than $200 for same quality boot....

Re: Suitable footwear
A comparable and similar boot to the RM is made by Baxter...not as expensive but not as good either from reports I've received.

I reckon HiTec Magnums are hard to beat. They are light, are high sided and have side zips also. Some camping stores carry them but Google is your friend too. Try the LEGEAR website. Be prepared to part with a couple of hundred bucks though.

I'm happy with my previously government issued Oliver's. Perfect price!

TR960Z Belleville Khyber lightweight waterproof sidezip tactical boot. 172 nikka, plus shipping. Comfy as, look good, light and the side zip is a godsend.

Gotta agree with ORH. Hitec Magnums, best boots I've ever owned by far.
Didn't realise you were a Magnum user ORH, mind you I didn't look at your feet last time we met.
